Dental Trauma and Cracked Teeth

Due to dental trauma, your teeth may develop macro or microfractures. Symptoms from this fracture include pain when chewing, temperature sensitivity, percussion sensitivity, or a combination of the above. These fractures will eventually irritate the tooth’s pulp, and over time the pulp will become damaged. Cracks can also lead to infections of the pulp tissue, and this infection can spread to the surrounding gums and bone. Most cracked teeth, however, can be saved by a root canal procedure.
